The bread and butter collective
In November 2019 we launched our not-for-profit initiative thebreadandbutter.co
Our sole objective is to provide the tools necessary for an independent business to compete with industry big-hitters in all aspects.
What’s it all about…
We’re in the corner of independent business, that means we support independent business as much as we can. For us, the biggest impact we can have day to day is to use our health and safety expertise to make compliance as simple and cost-effective as possible. But we want to have a bigger impact than that.
Running an independent business is tough, often the owner is wearing several (or all) of the hats and to-do lists run as long as the queue out the door. Cash is tight, managing staff is time consuming, coming up with a marketing strategy that works can be awkward, finding reliable suppliers can be a struggle etc etc.
The bread and butter co is a not-for-profit support network which will tackle these problems and more. It is a collective for the ‘experience industries’ of hospitality, retail, leisure and tourism. We’ll be focussing our efforts on supporting independent hotels, restaurants, pubs, bars, artisan food and drink and boutique and speciality shopping.
“Independent business is crucial to our local economy, not only providing a large contribution financially but also playing a huge part in how we and others see the city region. These experience industries create our identity and the experience Liverpool offers to its residents, visitors and outside investors”.
Throughout 2020 we’ll be using the feedback that independent business has given us to build a programme of delivery and support. We’ll be looking for organisations who want to make an impact on the local economy and take their social responsibility seriously to sponsor these programmes.
