Global scouse day – Seans favourite places to eat scouse stew!

Today marks global scouse day, a celebration of being from Liverpool. Let’s dig in!

Written by Sean Sturgeon (Marketing)

Nothing says ‘scouser’ like a bowl of scouse. Global scouse day is an annual celebration within the city of Liverpool, the best way to celebrate being a scouser is by a bowl of our infamous stew.

There’s so many places to have a bowl of scouse, here’s a list of some of my favourite places:

Madre

Madre will be offering their own take on the famous bowl. By offering a ‘scouse-taco’. The taco will feature beef brisket, carrot salsa and pickled beetroot.

For people wanting to celebrate with a Mexican style twist. I’m sure these will fill that void!

Pie Port

Pie Port sell a selection of Satterthwaite’s Bakehouse famous pork pies, with flavoured pork pies including chorizo, black pudding, apple & sage, all made locally by hand in Crosby 20 minutes from the city centre. The Scouse Pie features; beef, carrot, onion and potato in gravy topped with a puff pastry lid.

I was introduced to Pie Port in the Clockwise office, where they provided free pies to everyone for an hour. I tried my first scouse pie from them and ever since that day – I couldn’t recommend them enough!

Merseyside Maritime Museum

The Merseyside Maritime Museum offers a great traditional bowl of scouse. Served with a bread roll and pickled red cabbage, and all profits going towards the National Museum.

For people wanting a more traditional style, you cannot go wrong with Maritime’s offering.

Wherever you choose to enjoy your bowl of scouse, whether at home or in town. If it is in town, be sure to support the independent venues – made by scousers, for scousers.
