Everyday heroes Maray tackle the fight against hunger

In March, top chefs and food industry supporters across the country will take part in trekking through Jordan – Starting in the rift valley, finishing at one of the 7 wonders of the world – Petra!

Written by Sean Sturgeon (Marketing)

This is a six-day endurance trek, across a wide range of various conditions and terrain. As it stands, this trek will be the longest ambassador challenge Action Against Hunger have set up to date.

Action Against Hunger was formed in 1995 with the goal to set up international programmes to raise funding and awareness on child hunger. They have been working in Jordan since 2013, following the on-going crisis in Syria. In 2017 & 2018 combined. Action Against Hunger have helped raise £98,918 which is truly outstanding.

During the 6-day journey, two teams of hospitality leading chefs and supporters will embark together to raise vital funds and awareness of child hunger. The goal is to raise more than £150,000 for Action Against Hunger’s lifesaving work.

We couldn’t be prouder to say that one of our clients will be taking part in the 6-day trek through Jordan – James & Tom from Maray . James had this to say about the event: “Action Against Hunger is a global humanitarian organisation whose mission is to create a world free from hunger. I am taking in the Jordon 2020 Trek to assist in raising crucial funds for Jordanians”.

Tom said the following regarding the trek – “In March, I am trekking through Jordan to raise vital funds for Action Against Hunger. I first came into contact with this fantastic organisation through our restaurant and quickly discovered the incredible work they do across 50 countries.”

Tom followed: “Just £1 could provide a one-day supply of therapeutic food to nurse a malnourished child back to health. So when I say every little helps – It really does!”.
